If I knew that today was my last day on earth...

“If I knew that today was my last day on earth, would I do what I am about to do?”  ~  Steve Jobs
Probably not, but then, what would I be doing?
I won’t spend my time worrying.  I won’t be doing something I don’t enjoy.  I won’t be hurting someone’s feelings by saying things I would regret.  I won’t put off making that call or sending the flowers I intended sending for how long.  I won’t have any regrets.
I certainly won’t be spending my time with anything that doesn’t add value to my last day.

Loneliness

Loneliness is about the scariest thing out there.” ~ HankRearden Joss Whedon quotes
Man was not meant to be alone, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have lonely people amongst us.
We have colleagues who are extremely lonely.  One will only know what loneliness is if you have been lonely yourself.  To be on your own, to go out on your own, cope with things on your own, cry on your own...  We have colleagues who are lonely.
It takes so little to reach out to someone, show an honest interest, lend an ear... and become a friend.

New Horizons

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away… ~ George Carlin

All of us know how monotonous life can become.  We get up at the same time, take the same route to work, sit at the same desk, talk to the same people, go to the same shop after work, watch the same TV programmes at night, and go to bed around the same time...
Nothing happens that excites us, let alone takes our breath away.  If we continue to do the same thing, we are going to experience the same boredom.
The world will not come to an end if we change our habits, we might just be blown away by new horizons.

Wash your eyes

“Perhaps our eyes need to be washed by our tears once in a while, so that we can see Life with a clearer view again.”  -  Alex Tan quotes
Tears are often seen as a weakness, but it does have a cleansing nature.  Once you have cried, you do feel better.
We have feelings, we get disappointed, we are hurt, we experience losses, and we are human after all.   Don't be afraid to wash those eyes every now and again.

F E A R

“FEAR is an acronym in the English language for "False Evidence Appearing Real" - Neale Donald Walsch quotes
False evidence comes in many ways... via the grape vine... via so-called friends... your interpretation... hear-say...  We live in fear because of things that are either not true or will never happen.
Fear paralyses people, causes tunnel vision, clouds your judgement and it takes your focus away.  Channel your energy towards solutions and alternatives rather than towards the fear.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

The first step

The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want.  - Ben Stein
Do you really know what you want?  Have you put it down on paper?  Do you have a plan?  Can you visualize it?  What is the first step?  What is in my control?  What do I have to do to get there?
If you don’t do anything, you cannot fail... but that doesn’t mean that you succeeded.  There is no time like the present.  Take the first step.

A rocking chair called 'worry'

“Every tomorrow has two handles. We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety or the handle of faith...”  ~  Henry Ward Beecher
There is enough reason for one to constantly experience anxiety.  We are fed anxiety via newspapers, news bulletins, rumours, negative people, etc.
However, to be anxious or concerned is not going to make it better.  If nothing else, it is going to increase your anxiety.  Faith on the other hand is giving you calmness... hope...a sense of being in control and ultimately it disarms anxiety.  Faith is powerful.
Get off the rocking chair called ‘worry’, it’s going nowhere.

Persevere

“Many of the great achievements of the world were accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working…” ~ Anonymous
There are many examples in history of people who persevered, who never considered defeat, who continued despite all the odds, who just continued because they were too stubborn to give up.
Danielle Steel (published 108 books and sold over 800 million copies) says:  “I was very lucky that my first book was published—but the next 5 weren’t, and were never sold or published. But my 7th book was. If I had given up before that, I would never have had the career I have today. You just have to plant your bottom in a chair, keep it there, and do it.”
When you are tired of trying, just try one more time.  Success might be waiting around the next corner.

Never let go of hope

“Never let go of hope…  One day you will see that it all has finally come together…  What you have always wished for has finally come to be…  You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself – how did I get through all of that?”  ~ Anonymous
Anybody who has studied and graduated or received a diploma/certificate will know that all the hard work, sacrifices and long hours are eventually forgotten.  Only the achievement matters in the end.
Nobody can ever take your accomplishments away from you.  During the tough period, you often feel as if you are not going to make it and maybe you even feel like giving up, but persevere.  To reach your goal is a reward that can never be matched.
If it is worth the while, it is worth the effort.

Change? Again?

“Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely...”   ~ Similar Quotes
We know the cliché:  The only constant in life, is change.  Change is a reality and it is not going away, so why are we resisting it?
Just imagine if we embrace change and see the value that it brings... a new challenge... more opportunities... a different environment... new people to meet... a different reporting line... a fresh approach... the possibility to acquire a new skill or even use your unnoticed talents... and ultimately growth!
It is not about what happens to you, but about how you handle it.  Does it make you bitter or better?

Keep on trying

“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all…”  ~ Dale Carnegie quotes
If you stop trying, you have given up hope.  While you are trying, even if you fail, you can still make it.  Sometimes we don’t even try... we give up or make excuses.
If you believe in something, give it your all.  Even if you fail, don’t give up.  Just try a new approach or work harder.  Don’t listen to people who dishearten you.  Avoid people who have negative thoughts.  Surround yourself with positive people with a ‘can do’ attitude.
Dream the impossible dream, in fact, never stop dreaming.  Dreams are creativity in the making.

Never regret

“Never regret… If it’s good, it’s wonderful. If it’s bad, it’s experience…” ~ Victoria Holt…
So many times, we regret decisions we made or something we said or did.  We blame ourselves for days, weeks and years to come about one mistake.

However, we forget or don’t see the many good things we did or experienced in the past.  That one little thing becomes the way we define ourselves.  Reality is that we will make mistakes, we will make wrong decisions, and we will take a wrong turn every now and again.   Enjoy the experience. .. See it as a lesson learnt.

A mistake is only a mistake if it doesn’t change the way you do things going forward.  Rather regret what you did than regret what you never did.
